<self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.co/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S0124-53762024000100019&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.co/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S0124-53762024000100019&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.co/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S0124-53762024000100019&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen Este artículo explora la influencia de las cordilleras sobre el flujo génico de Exaerete smaragdina, una abeja de amplia distribución en Colombia y de gran importancia en el sostenimiento de la diversidad florística de sistemas naturales, gracias a su función como agente polinizador de orquídeas neotropicales. Se muestrearon once bosques naturales conservados en el flanco occidental de la cordillera Central, el flanco oriental de la cordillera Centro-Oriental, el piedemonte amazónico y el flanco occidental de la cordillera Occidental. En cada bosque se establecieron dos transectos de 250 m x 2,5 m. A lo largo de cada transecto, se ubicaron seis estaciones de muestreo cada 50 metros, en las cuales se instalaron trampas de olor con atrayentes aromáticos. El material biológico recolectado fue procesado en el Laboratorio de Entomología de la Universidad del Cauca y las abejas depositadas en la Colección de Referencia del Museo de Historia Natural. Se realizó la caracterización molecular mediante el gen COI. Los resultados soportan la idea de que E. smaragdina es un complejo de especies en el país. La estructura genética y la alta diferenciación molecular entre las poblaciones dispuestas en cada flanco de las cordilleras sugiere su aparición como un evento geográfico que posiblemente aisló las poblaciones, donde los requerimientos ecológicos locales han constituido una barrera influyente en el aislamiento reproductivo de la especie.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract This article explores the influence of mountain ranges on the gene flow of Exaerete smaragdina, a bee with a wide distribution and great importance in sustaining the floristic diversity of natural systems due to its function as a pollinating agent of neotropical orchids. Eleven conserved natural forests were sampled on the western and eastern flanks of the central mountain range, the Amazonian piedmont, and the western flank of the western mountain range. In each forest, two transects of 250 m x 2.5 m were delineated, and six stations were baited with aromatic attractants located every 50 m. Molecular characterization was carried out using the COI gene. Results support the idea that E. smaragdina is a species complex in the country. Genetic structure and high molecular differentiation were evident between the populations located on each side of the Central and Eastern mountain ranges, which suggests the appearance of mountain ranges as a geographical event that likely isolated the populations. Hence, the local ecological requirements have constituted a barrier that affects the reproductive isolation of the species.]]></p></abstract>
