El propósito fue identificar las tendencias de investigación, así como las brechas y oportunidades de estudios e investigación en este campo; para ello se realizó una revisión documental de artículos científicos publicados en revistas especializadas. Los hallazgos proporcionan una descripción del panorama actual de las tendencias en investigación, señalan los temas predominantes en el campo, explican algunos problemas emergentes, las brechas investigativas y perspectivas futuras. La previsión tecnológica, la investigación empresarial, la gestión turística, los negocios, la gestión de marketing industrial, la gestión logística internacional y el desarrollo sostenible fueron temas preponderantes que se identificaron. Con relación a las brechas investigativas, se hallaron temas como marketing digital, métricas innovadoras para medir el desempeño financiero y de marketing sostenible o ecológico, y la aplicación e impacto de técnicas relacionadas con big data en el desempeño empresarial. Sobre los desafíos que enfrenta la investigación regional, se encontró que es necesaria una revisión y estudio de procesos estructurales de desarrollo, competitividad y sostenibilidad y procesos de internacionalización de empresas emprendedoras. <abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract This article follows a systematic review of the literature on the main areas of research in International Business in the period 2017-2020. The purpose was to identify research trends, as well as gaps and opportunities for studies and research in this field; for this, a documentary review of scientific articles published in specialized journals was carried out. The findings provide an overview of the current landscape of research trends, point out the prevailing themes in the field, explain some emerging problems, research gaps, and future prospects. Technology foresight, business research, tourism management, business, industrial marketing management, international logistics management, and sustainable development were major themes identified. Regarding research gaps, topics such as digital marketing, innovative metrics to measure financial performance and sustainable or ecological marketing, and the application and impact of techniques related to big data on business performance were found. Regarding the challenges facing regional research, it was found that a review and study of structural processes of development, competitiveness and sustainability and internationalization processes of entrepreneurial companies is necessary. <abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="pt"><p><![CDATA[Resumo Este artigo segue uma revisão sistemática da literatura sobre as principais áreas de pesquisa em Negócios Internacionais no período 2017-2020. O objetivo foi identificar tendências de pesquisa, bem como lacunas e oportunidades de estudos e pesquisas nesta área; para isso, foi realizada uma revisão documental de artigos científicos publicados em revistas especializadas. Os resultados fornecem uma visão geral do panorama atual das tendências de pesquisa, apontam os temas predominantes no campo, explicam alguns problemas emergentes, lacunas de pesquisa e perspectivas futuras. Prospecção tecnológica, pesquisa de negócios, gestão de turismo, negócios, gestão de marketing industrial, gestão de logística internacional e desenvolvimento sustentável foram os principais temas identificados. Em relação às lacunas de pesquisa, foram encontrados temas como marketing digital, métricas inovadoras para medir desempenho financeiro e marketing sustentável ou ecológico, e a aplicação e impacto de técnicas relacionadas a big data no desempenho dos negócios.
