Son pocos los estudios asociados con microcuencas de cabeceras andinas, y, en ese contexto, el presente estudio tuvo como objetivo evaluar el efecto de la heterogeneidad de microhábitats en la riqueza de los taxones y los grupos funcionales alimenticios en los macroinvertebrados acuáticos presentes en la microcuenca Dalí, Andes centrales de Colombia. Se hicieron monitoreos bianuales entre el 2012 y el 2016 de los aspectos biofísicos mediante el índice de hábitat fluvial, así como de los macroinvertebrados acuáticos recolectados con red Surber en los microhábitats dominantes en cinco estaciones a lo largo de la quebrada Dalí y de dos tributarios. La asignación de los grupos funcionales alimenticios se hizo con base en la revisión de la literatura especializada. En general, se registró un hábitat fluvial bien construido. Se recolectaron 34.144 organismos pertenecientes a 147 taxones que se clasificaron en seis grupos funcionales alimenticios, siendo el de los recolectores el más abundante, seguido de los fragmentadores. El sustrato rocoso fue el microhábitat más diverso. Se observaron diferencias significativas entre los microhábitats (p&lt;0,05) y una correlación positiva de Pearson (r2: 0,923) entre la riqueza de taxones y las condiciones del hábitat fluvial. Estos resultados confirman que la microcuenca Dalí presenta el patrón típico de las corrientes de cabecera, entornos muy heterogéneos donde la presencia de material alóctono, la heterogeneidad de los microhábitats e, incluso, las coberturas vegetales influyen ya sea positiva o negativamente en la comunidad de los macroinvertebrados acuáticos.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract Aquatic macroinvertebrates play a critical ecological role in aquatic ecosystems because they allow understanding the dynamics of the energy and nutrient flow, as well as the existing trophic relationships. However, there are few studies about the structure and composition of aquatic macroinvertebrates in Andean headwaters streams. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the effect of microhabitat heterogeneity on the taxa richness and functional diversity of aquatic macroinvertebrates in the Dali Creek, a low order creek in the Central Andes of Colombia. From 2012 to 2016, surveys were conducted twice a year in seven sampling reaches where we evaluated the fluvial habitat index and sampled its dominant microhabitats for aquatic macroinvertebrates. We collected 34,144 organisms grouped in 147 taxa that were classified into six functional groups, with collector and litter fragmenter groups being the most abundant. The rocky substrate was the microhabitat with the highest diversity. The difference in the taxa richness between microhabitats was statistically significant (p&lt;0.05) and Pearson's correlation between taxa richness and the fluvial habitat index of the sampled reaches was positive (r2=0.923). Our results showed that even in headwaters, the heterogeneity of the reaches and microhabitats determines the composition and abundance of aquatic macroinvertebrates.]]></p></abstract>
