Se examinaron los especímenes depositados en la Colección Ictiológica MUSM, que incluye evaluaciones de campo realizadas en el cauce principal del río Pisco, humedal Pisco Playa, laguna Morón y poza Lagunillas, así como estudios hallados en la literatura disponible. Se documentaron 13 especies de peces pertenecientes a ocho familias y ocho órdenes, siendo la familia Cichlidae la de mayor diversidad, con cuatro especies. Lebiasina bimaculata representa un nuevo registro de la ictiofauna del río Pisco. La riqueza de especies varió según el ambiente evaluado, siendo el humedal Pisco Playa y el río Pisco los ambientes con mayor diversidad, al albergar nueve y ocho especies, respectivamente. En cuanto a la composición de las especies, Andinoacara stalsbergi, Poecilia reticulata y Oreochromis sp. se encontraron en los cuatro ambientes acuáticos evaluados y se las podría considerar como especies núcleo, mientras que Basilichthys semotilus se registró únicamente en el río Pisco. En términos de tolerancia a la salinidad, se identificaron una especie primaria, 11 secundarias y una periférica. Según su origen, las especies exóticas representan el 53,8 % de la riqueza total, destacándose Oreochromis sp. y P. reticulata por estar presentes en todos los ambientes evaluados. Nuestro estudio contribuye en la actualización del conocimiento de la riqueza íctica en el bajo río Pisco y proporciona una herramienta valiosa para la gestión, divulgación y conservación de la biota acuática en esta región.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract Our study focuses on the fish fauna in the lower Pisco River in Ica, central coast of Perú. We examined the specimens deposited in the MUSM Ichthyological Collection including field evaluations in the main channel of the Pisco River, the Pisco Playa Wetland, the Morón Lagoon, and the Poza Lagunillas, as well as records from the available literature. We recorded 13 fish species belonging to eight families and eight orders, with Cichlidae as the most diverse family, with four species. Lebiasina bimaculata represents a new record for the ichthyofauna of the Pisco River. Species richness varied according to the evaluated environment, with Pisco Playa Wetland and the Pisco River as the environments with the highest diversity, hosting nine and eight species, respectively. Regarding the species composition, Andinoacara stalsbergi, Poecilia reticulata, and Oreochromis sp. were present in the four aquatic environments evaluated and could be considered core species, while Basilichthys semotilus was recorded exclusively in the Pisco River. In terms of salinity tolerance, one primary, 11 secondary, and one peripheral species were identified. As for their origin, exotic species represented 53.8% of the total richness, with Oreochromis sp. and P. reticulata present in all the environments evaluated. Our study updates the knowledge of the ichthyologic richness in the lower Pisco River.
