El sistema de regionalización de la Universidad del Valle desde un inicio estuvo orientado a ampliar la cobertura educativa. Este estudio revela un hallazgo inesperado en ese sistema: la configuración no intencional de es pacios que propician la interacción multi e interdisciplinar entre docentes. A través de entrevistas a 17 docentes nombrados en sedes regionales, ana lizamos cómo este contexto está dando lugar a identidades académicas emergentes que trascienden las fronteras disciplinares tradicionales. Los docentes valoran positivamente estos espacios de diálogo, aunque persis ten barreras institucionales como el bajo número de profesores de tiempo completo y la falta de políticas que incentiven la investigación colaborativa. La estructura física y organizacional de las sedes regionales está propician do, de manera imprevista, un terreno fértil para el desarrollo de enfoques innovadores en la academia. Este descubrimiento sugiere la necesidad de cambios en la política universitaria para aprovechar estas oportunidades emergentes, eliminando obstáculos y fomentando la integración de cono cimientos. El estudio destaca el potencial transformador de esta dinámica en la producción de conocimiento y en la conformación de nuevas identi dades académicas dentro del sistema universitario regionalizado.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract. From the beginning, the regionalization system of the Universidad del Valle was aimed at expanding educational coverage. This study reveals an un expected finding in this system: the unintentional configuration of spaces, which promote multi- and interdisciplinary interaction among professors. Through interviews with 17 professors appointed at regional headquarters, we analyze how this context is giving rise to emerging academic identities, which transcend traditional disciplinary boundaries. Faculty value these spaces for dialogue positively, although institutional barriers persist, such as the low number of full-time faculty and the lack of policies, which en courage collaborative research. The physical and organizational structure of the regional headquarters currently provides, unexpectedly, the breeding ground for the development of innovative approaches in the academy. This finding suggests the need for changes in university policy in order to take advantage of these emerging opportunities, by removing barriers and fostering knowledge integration. The study highlights the trans formative potential of these dynamics in knowledge production and in the shaping of new academic identities within the regionalized university system.]]></p></abstract>
