Estudiar la relación entre inteligencia fluida y creatividad en escolares de primer y segundo año de enseñanza básica, con el fin de contribuir a su comprensión en niveles iniciales de enseñanza.  Método.  Se utilizó un diseño transversal descriptivo, de alcance correlacional. La muestra de participantes contempló 94 escolares de ambos sexos, de un establecimiento educativo de la región del Biobío (Chile), cuyas edades fluctuaron entre los 6 y los 8 años. Se tomaron medidas de inteligencia fluida, con la prueba Factor g, y de creatividad, con el test de inteligencia creativa CREA.  Resultados.  Los resultados mostraron un desempeño dentro de rangos esperados en las pruebas de inteligencia fluida y de creatividad, en ambos niveles de enseñanza. La correlación entre ambas variables estudiadas fue positiva pero débil (r = 0.23, p = 0.026).  Conclusión.  Los estudiantes evaluados mostraron un aumento de su inteligencia y creatividad con la edad, que podría verse beneficiada por programas de evaluación y estimulación temprana.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract  Objetive.  To study the relationship between fluid intelligence and creativity in Chilean schoolchildren from first and second years of basic education with the purpose of contributing to their understanding in the first levels of education.  Method.  A cross-sectional descriptive design was used. The sample of participants was 94 schoolchildren of both sexes, from an educational establishment in the Biobío region in Chile, who were between 6 and 8 years old. Measures of fluid intelligence were taken through the Factor G test, and creativity through the Creative Intelligence test (CREA).  Results.  The results showed expected performances in the fluid intelligence and creativity tests in participants of both levels of education. The correlation between both variables was shown as weak positive, with high levels of statistical significance (r = 0.23, p= 0.026).  Conclusion.  Students showed an improvement in their intelligence and creativity performances by their age, which could be favored by programs of early assessment and stimulation of these cognitive skills.]]></p></abstract>

Esta pesquisa teve como proposto estudar a relação entre inteligência fluida e criatividade em escolares de primeiro e segundo ano de ensino básico, com o fim de contribuir a sua compreensão em níveis iniciais do ensino.  Metodologia.  Foi usado um desenho transversal descritivo, de alcance correlacional. A amostra de participantes contemplou 94 escolares de ambos sexos, de um estabelecimento educativo da região do Biobío, Chile, com idades que variam entre os 6 e os 8 anos de idade. Foram tomadas medidas de inteligência fluida, com a prova de Fator G, e de criatividade com o teste de Inteligência criativa (CREA).  Resultados.  Os resultados mostraram um desempenho dentro dos rangos esperados nas provas de inteligência fluida e de criatividade, em ambos níveis de ensino.
