Para la recolección de la información se aplicó el cuestionario del hogar a una muestra de 2052 niños; este incluye actividades y frecuencia de juego entre los seis y dieciocho meses. El desarrollo cognitivo se evaluó mediante pruebas de vocabulario y matemáticas, mientras el desarrollo socio-emocional por medio de las escalas de agencia, orgullo, autoeficacia y autoestima a los cinco, ocho, doce y quince años. Los resultados muestran mayor significancia en el desarrollo cognitivo y socioemocional en el juego con ambos padres y con frecuencia diaria. Se concluye que el juego diario entre padres e hijos promueve el desarrollo cognitivo y socioemocional.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract (analytical) The objective of this quantitative study was to analyze the relationship between parent-child play (children between six and 18 months of age) and a child&#8217;s cognitive and socio-emotional development. As part of the data collection process, a household questionnaire was applied to a sample of 2,052 children that asked about the regular activities and frequency of parent-child play when the children were between six and 18 months of age. Cognitive development was assessed using vocabulary and mathematics tests while socioemotional development was evaluated through different scales that measured levels of agency, pride, self-efficacy and self-esteem at five, eight, twelve and fifteen years of age. The results show increased levels of cognitive and socioemotional development among children who played with both parents on a daily basis when they were infants. The authors conclude that daily play between parents and children promotes cognitive and socioemotional development.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="pt"><p><![CDATA[Resumo (analítico) Este estudo quantitativo tem como objetivo analisar a relação entre das brincadeiras entre pais e filhos (entre os seis e os dezoito meses de idade) com o desenvolvimento cognitivo e socioemocional. Para a coleta de informações, foi aplicado o questionário domiciliar a uma amostra de 2052 crianças que inclui atividades e frequência de brincadeiras aos seis e os dezoito meses. O desenvolvimento cognitivo foi avaliado por meio de testes de vocabulário e matemática, enquanto o desenvolvimento socioemocional por meio das escalas de agência, orgulho, auto-eficácia e autoestima aos cinco, oito, doze e quinze anos de idade. Os resultados mostram maior significância no desenvolvimento cognitivo e socioemocional no brincar com ambos os pais e com frequência diária. Concluise que o jogo diário entre pais e filhos promove o desenvolvimento cognitivo e socioemocional.]]></p></abstract>
