Una de las opciones consideradas para poder alcanzar altos niveles de calidad del agua tratada y desempeño del proceso es el uso de los coagulantes. En la actualidad, los más comunes para el tratamiento de aguas son compuestos inorgánicos que generan grandes desventajas asociadas a altos costos e impactos ambientales. Por lo anterior dentro de esta investigación se evaluaron los coagulantes naturales de Ipomoea incarnata y Moringa oleífera a partir del método de extracción soxhlet, frente a los coagulantes convencionales en aguas residuales industriales de Sentinas y de Curtiembre las cuales generan consecuencias que afectan directamente los cuerpos de agua a las cuales se vierten, obteniéndose resultados que confirman que la Ipomoea incarnata y Moringa oleífera se pueden utilizar como posibles alternativas de origen natural en la depuración de aguas residuales industriales, ya que además de garantizar la eficiencia de remoción de turbidez, presentan características de biodegradabilidad que lo convierten en una alternativa viable desde el punto de vista ambiental.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT Industrial wastewater needs to be treated due to the presence of impurities such as suspended solids, microorganisms, organic matter, minerals and others. One of the use of coagulants is one of the considered options to reach high levels of treated water quality and process performance is the use of coagulants. At present, the most common for water treatment are inorganic compounds that generate great disadvantages associated with high environmental costs and impacts. Therefore, within this research, the natural coagulants of Ipomoea incarnata and Moringa oleifera were evaluated using the soxhlet extraction method, compared to the conventional coagulants in industrial wastewater from ship sample and tannery, which generate consequences that directly affect of water sources to which they are discharged, obtaining results that confirm that Ipomoea incarnata and Moringa oleifera can be used as possible alternatives of natural origin in the purification of industrial wastewater, since also to guaranteeing the efficiency of removal of turbidity, they present characteristics of biodegradability that make it a viable alternative from the environmental point of view.]]></p></abstract>
