Esto no solo es un problema por el impacto que tienen estos compuestos sobre el ecosistema y la salud pública sino por los productos generados de su transformación en el ambiente, que en muchos casos pueden ser más tóxicos que el mismo compuesto parental. Uno de los plaguicidas más usado en Colombia es el Clorpirifos y ha sido asociado con la contaminación de fuentes hídricas. Este estudio evalúa el potencial de lixiviación del Clorpirifos desde la superficie del suelo a lo largo de un perfil de un Entisol en zona de influencia del embalse Riogrande II. La lixiviación del Clorpirifos se estudió durante 84 días después de aplicar 4,8 kg/ha del ingrediente activo a través de un lisímetro con un área de 1m2. El compuesto se detectó en las muestras de suelo en un rango de 10,0 a 9678,8 ug/kg alcanzando profundidades de 56 cm. Los hallazgos sugieren que el Clorpirifos puede movilizarse hasta horizontes más profundos a través de flujos preferenciales a pesar su alto coeficiente de absorción.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT The large agronomic practices around water bodies represent a risk of contamination of them in terms of the entrance of agricultural products such as pesticides. The entry of pesticides to water bodies by itself is a problem not only for the impact on the ecosystem and public health but also for the products generated by its transformation into the environment which in some cases are more toxic than the parent product. As one of the most used pesticides in Colombian agriculture, Chlorpyrifos has been associated with contamination water sources. This study evaluated the leaching potential of Chlorpyrifos from the topsoil within the soil profile in a Colombian Entisol. The leaching of Chlorpyrifos was investigated during 84 days after application of 4.8 kg/ha of active ingredient in lysimeters with a plot area of 1 m2. Chlorpyrifos was detected in a maximum range of 10.0 to 9678.8 ug/kg in soil hitting the 56 cm of depth. So far, findings suggest that Chlorpyrifos can be mobilized to deeper horizons through preferential paths in spite of the high absorption coefficient of the parent compound. In this sense, the use of Chlorpyrifos should be more regulated.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="pt"><p><![CDATA[RESUMO As práticas agropecuárias em torno dos corpos d'água representam um risco de contaminação pela entrada de produtos agrícolas, como pesticidas. Este não é apenas um problema devido ao impacto que estes compostos têm no ecossistema e na saúde pública, mas também por causa dos produtos gerados a partir da sua transformação no meio ambiente, o que em muitos casos pode ser mais tóxico que o mesmo composto original. Um dos pesticidas mais utilizados na Colômbia é Chlorpirifos o qual tem sido associado à contaminação de fontes de água. Este estudo avalia o potencial de lixiviação dos clorpirifos a partir da superfície do solo ao longo de um perfil de um Entisol na área de influência do reservatório de Riogrande II. A lixiviação com clorpirifos foi estudada por 84 dias após a aplicação de 4,8 kg/ha do ingrediente ativo em um lisímetro com uma área de 1 m2. O composto foi detectado nas amostras de solo em uma faixa de 10,0 a 9678,8 ug/kg, atingindo profundidades de 56 cm. Os resultados sugerem que os Clorpirifos podem se mover para horizontes mais profundos através de fluxos preferenciais, apesar do seu alto coeficiente de absorção.]]></p></abstract>
