Específicamente, el Valle de Aburrá ha presentado elevados niveles de material particulado en el aire (MP) que sobrepasan los límites establecidos por la Norma Colombiana de Calidad del Aire y por la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS). En el presente trabajo, se realizó una clasificación de las 100 especies arbóreas más comunes en Valle de Aburrá que mejor controlan el MP, a partir de sus rasgos funcionales. Retrophyüum rospigliosii, Inga densiflora, Zygia ¡ongifolia, Bauhinia pictay Calliandra haematocephala fueron las cinco especies nativas con el mayor potencial de remoción. Se sugiere que aquellas, especies que se encuentran por encima del promedio 17.8 en la clasificación sean consideradas en planes de siembra orientados a mejorar la calidad del aire dentro del Valle de Aburrá.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract Air pollution is a global problem and Colombia is not immune to this problem. Specifically, the Aburrá Valley has presented high levels of particulate matter in the air (PM) that exceed the limits established by the Colombian Air Quality Standard and by the World Health Organization (WHO). In this present work, a ranking was made of the 100 most common trees species in Valle de Aburrá that better control the PM, based on its functional traits. Retrophyllum rospigliosii, Inga densiflora, Zygia longifolia, Bauhinia picta and Calliandra haematocephala were the five native species with the greatest capacity for removal MP. It is suggested that those species that are above the average of 17.8 in the ranking be considered in planting plans aimed at improving the air quality within the Aburrá Valley.]]></p></abstract>

Específicamente, o Valle de Aburrá tem apresentado elevados níveis de material particulado (MP) no ar que ultrapassam os limites estabelecidos pela Norma Colombiana de Qualidade do Ar e pela Organização Mundial da Salud (OMS). No presente trabalho, foi feita uma classificação das 100 espécies arbóreo mais comuns no Valle de Aburrá que apresentam um controle mais eficiente do MP, a partir das suas características funcionais. Retrophyllum rospigliosii, Inga densiflora, Zygia longifolia, Bauhinia picta e Calliandra haematocephala foram as cinco espécies nativas com o maior potencial de remoção. Recomendase que as espécies que obtiveram uma média acima de 17.8 nessa classificação sejam consideradas nos planos de plantio orientados a melhorar a qualidade do ar dentro do Valle de Aburrá.]]></p></abstract>
