Ciudad de México cuenta con aproximadamente 8'918.853 habitantes que generan en promedio 12.893 ton/día, mientras que Bogotá, con más de 7'412.516 habitantes genera un aproximado de 7.200 ton/ día.  Objetivo. Realizar un análisis comparativo entre los planes de gestión de residuos sólidos de Ciudad de México con relación a Bogotá, resaltando semejanzas, diferencias, fortalezas y debilidades.  Materiales y métodos. El método de esta investigación está fundamentado en una revisión bibliográfica en bases de datos, y documentos correspondientes a la legislación de cada país, comparando aspectos como población, generación de residuos, separación en la fuente, recolección, transferencia y disposición final.  Resultados. Entre los principales aciertos encontrados en ambas ciudades se destacan la nueva implementación de planes basura cero, reciclaje, cobertura de las empresas prestadoras del servicio de aseo, todo con miras en la reducción de la cantidad de residuos depositados en los rellenos sanitarios. El aumento de la separación en el origen, a pesar de ser bajo, es un punto a favor; el transporte de residuos es regular, pero se identificó que en ambas ciudades cubre la mayor parte de la extensión territorial lo que contribuye a la reducción de focos urbanos de depósito ilegal de residuos.  Conclusiones. Ambas ciudades presentan puntos fuertes como el proceso de recolección y transferencia en Ciudad de México y reciclaje en Bogotá. Entre los aspectos de mejora la separación en la fuente necesita ser fomentada, el transporte de residuos necesita ser tecnificado y renovado en Ciudad de México, e implementado de mejor manera en Bogotá.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract  Introduction. Mexico City has approximately 8'918,853 inhabitants that generate an average of 12,893 tons / day, while Bogotá, with more than 7'412,516 inhabitants generates an approximate of 7,200 tons / day.  Objective. Carry out a comparative analysis between the solid waste management plans of Mexico City in relation to Bogotá, highlighting similarities, differences, strengths, and weaknesses.  Materials and methods. The method of this research is based on a bibliographic review in databases, and documents corresponding to the legislation of each country, comparing aspects such as population, waste generation, source separation, collection, transfer, and final disposal.  Results. Among the main successes found in both cities are the new implementation of zero waste plans, recycling, coverage of the cleaning service companies, all with a view to reducing the amount of waste deposited in sanitary landfills. The increase in the separation at the origin, despite being low, is a plus; the transport of waste is regular, but it was identified that in both cities it covers most of the territorial extension, which contributes to the reduction of urban centers of illegal waste disposal.  Conclusions. Both cities have strong points such as the collection and transfer process in Mexico City and recycling in Bogotá. Among the aspects of improvement, separation at the source needs to be promoted, waste transportation needs to be technified and renewed in Mexico City, and better implemented in Bogotá.]]></p></abstract>

A Cidade do México tem cerca de 8.918.853 habitantes que geram em média 12.893 toneladas / dia, enquanto Bogotá, com mais de 7'412.516 habitantes, gera cerca de 7.200 toneladas / dia.  Objetivo. Realizar uma análise comparativa entre os planos de gestão de resíduos sólidos da Cidade do México em relação a Bogotá, destacando semelhanças, diferenças, pontos fortes e fracos.  Materiais e métodos. O método desta pesquisa é baseado em revisão bibliográfica em bases de dados e documentos correspondentes à legislação de cada país, comparando aspectos como população, geração de resíduos, separação na fonte, coleta, transferência e disposição final.  Resultados. Entre os principais sucessos encontrados nas duas cidades estão a nova implantação dos planos de lixo zero, reciclagem, cobertura das empresas de serviços de limpeza, tudo com o objetivo de reduzir a quantidade de resíduos depositados em aterros sanitários. O aumento da separação na origem, apesar de baixo, é um diferencial; o transporte de resíduos é regular, mas identificou-se que em ambas as cidades cobre grande parte da extensão territorial, o que contribui para a redução dos bolsões urbanos de disposição ilegal de resíduos.  Conclusões. Ambas cidades têm pontos fortes como o processo de coleta e transferência na Cidade do México e a reciclagem em Bogotá. Entre os aspectos de melhoria, a separação na fonte precisa ser promovida, o transporte de resíduos precisa ser tecnificado e renovado na Cidade do México e melhor implementado em Bogotá.]]></p></abstract>
