Esta se realizó a partir de información sobre gestión del conocimiento aportada por expertos universitarios comprometidos con el uso de esta gestión. Para interpretar la información obtenida, se construyó un modelo de gestión del conocimiento, producto de la revisión de la literatura especializada, el cual destaca tres elementos interconectados: 1) las personas, su conocimiento y su capacidad de generarlo; 2) la organización y su diseño, el cual propicia que el conocimiento experto se revele y sea utilizable; y 3) las tecnologías de la información y la comunicación empleadas para hacer disponible el conocimiento generado. Los resultados obtenidos revelan que no hay un modelo preconcebido de gestión del conocimiento universitario, aunque emergen propuestas de modelos ajustados a la dinámica de la institución. También se encuentra que la universidad continúa siendo una generadora de conocimiento, aunque no está liderando este proceso en la sociedad.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract This article is an approximation to understanding the role of the university in the production and management of the knowledge demanded by society. This approximation was based on information provided by university experts committed to the use of knowledge management. In order to interpret the information obtained, a Knowledge Management model was designed as a result of the review of specialized literature, which highlights three interconnected elements: 1) people, their knowledge, and their capacity to generate it, 2) the organization and its design, which enables expert knowledge to be revealed and used, and 3) the information technologies used to make the knowledge generated available. The results obtained reveal that there is no preconceived model of university Knowledge Management, although proposals of models adjusted to the dynamics of the institution emerge. It is also found that the university continues to be a generator of knowledge, although it is not the leader of this process in society.]]></p></abstract>
