A partir de la reflexión sobre la pluralidad y diversidad de los actores educativos y el reconocimiento de las tensiones y conflictos entre individuos, grupos y culturas se realiza una mirada que parte de la discusión sobre la identidad social y su pertinencia para abordar diversos fenómenos sociales a nivel teórico y empírico. En el desarrollo del artículo se presentan algunos hallazgos de investigaciones alrededor de identidad social y educación, se discute el papel de la escuela y sus dificultades frente a la construcción de identidades sociales y las dinámicas de homogeneidad y heterogeneidad presentes en el mundo escolar. Finalmente, se generan interrogantes de posibles indagaciones y formas de abordaje de procesos implicados en la construcción de identidades sociales en el contexto escolar.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract In this article, we present a theoretical review about the relationship between identity and education to describe the relevance of the category social identity for understanding social inclusion processes. We offer a reflection on the plurality and diversity of educational agents, the tensions and conflict between individuals, groups and cultures from social identity and its relevance to approach various social phenomena in a theoretical and empirical level. We present some research findings about social identity and education and discuss the role of the school and its difficulties in the construction of social identities and dynamics of homogeneity and heterogeneity at school. Finally, we present the most relevant topics to deal with processes involved in the constructions of social identities in the school.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="pt"><p><![CDATA[Resumo Neste artigo, apresenta-se uma revisão teórica sobre a identidade a educação que argumenta a pertinência da categoria identidade social para compreender processos de inclusão social. A partir da reflexão sobre a pluralidade e a diversidade dos atores educativos, assim como o reconhecimento das tensões e conflitos entre indivíduos, grupos e culturas, abordamos a discussão sobre a identidade social e sua pertinência para abordar diversos fenômenos sociais de nível teórico e empírico.
