Se realizó una búsqueda de investigaciones en bases de datos abiertas y cerradas en inglés, francés y español y se realizó un análisis cualitativo orientado a identificar relaciones entre ambas variables. Los resultados muestran cómo en medio de los procesos de democratización escolar, la familia se constituye en una variable central para comprender las inercias que dificultan el cierre de brechas sociales vía la educación. Asimismo, muestra cómo la variable familiar ha ido adquiriendo una complejidad teórica y empírica mayor: en principio entendida como expresión de una clase ubicada en una estructura social, pasa a representar modos de organización, ambientes y estilos educativos, hasta su concepción como sistema de acción y agente de estrategias. Tránsito que ha llevado a abrir esa suerte de caja negra que informa sobre cómo lo que hace la familia cotidianamente en términos educativos produce efectos en lo que puede hacer la escuela en materia de justicia social.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT We identify the main lines of research developed since the mid-1960s regarding the study of educational inequalities, focusing on the role played by the family variable. A search for studies was conducted in open and closed databases in English, French, and Spanish, followed by a qualitative analysis aimed at identifying relationships between these two variables. The results reveal that, amid processes of school democratization, the family emerges as a central variable in understanding the persistent dynamics that hinder the closing of social gaps through education. Additionally, the findings highlight how the family variable has progressively gained greater theoretical and empirical complexity. Despite its initial understanding as an expression of a social class within a structural framework, it later came to represent modes of organization, environments, and educational styles, ultimately evolving into a system of action and an agent of strategies. This progression has led to the opening of the so-called &amp; quot;black box,&amp; quit; shedding light on how the family's everyday educational practices influence what schools can achieve in terms of social justice.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="pt"><p><![CDATA[RESUM0 Identificamos as principais linhas de pesquisa desenvolvidas desde meados dos anos sessenta em torno do estudo das desigualdades educacionais, a partir do papel desempenhado pela variável familiar. Foi realizada uma busca por investigações em bases de dados abertas e restritas, nos idiomas inglês, francês e espanhol, seguida de uma análise qualitativa voltada para identificar relações entre ambas as variáveis. Os resultados mostram que, em meio aos processos de democratização escolar, a família se constitui como uma variável central para compreender as dinâmicas que dificultam o encerramento das brechas sociais por meio da educação. Além disso, evidenciam como a variável familiar tem adquirido crescente complexidade teórica e empírica: inicialmente entendida como expressão de uma classe situada em uma estrutura social, ela passa a representar modos de organização, ambientes e estilos educativos, até ser concebida como um sistema de ação e agente de estratégias. Esse percurso tem permitido abrir uma espécie de "caixa-preta", revelando como as ações educativas cotidianas da família produzem efeitos concretos sobre aquilo que a escola pode realizar em termos de justiça social.]]></p></abstract>
