No obstante, a pesar de su vasto uso existe una pobre delimitación del concepto y las características que constituyen una buena propuesta de minor. El presente artículo analiza los elementos comunes, diferencias y patrones en programas de minors académicos de una muestra de universidades de nivel nacional e internacional. Para lo anterior, se utilizó la técnica del benchmarking genérico con una muestra de las 20 mejores universidades del mundo y las 10 mejores de Chile, según el Ranking de Shanghái. El análisis se focalizó en las definiciones, composición, tipos, requisitos de postulación y certificación de los minors ofrecidos. Los resultados identificaron elementos básicos comunes, tales como la existencia de una estructura curricular modular, un mínimo de 4 cursos, entre 18 y 30 créditos y la presencia de requisitos de elegibilidad. También se observaron particularidades según el contexto institucional. Finalmente, se proponen criterios para facilitar la conceptualización y delimitación de los minors académicos.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT Academic minors are an alternative that contributes to generating attractive educational options aligned with students' interests. Despite their widespread use, there is a poor delimitation of the concept and the characteristics that constitute a strong minor proposal. This article analyzes common elements, differences, and patterns in academic minor programs from a sample of national and international universities. For this purpose, a generic Benchmarking technique was used, based on a sample of the top 20 universities in the world and the top 10 in Chile, according to the Shanghai ranking. The analysis focused on definitions, structure, types, application requirements, and certification of the minors offered. The results identified common basic elements, such as the existence of a modular curricular structure, a minimum of 4 courses, between 18 and 30 credits, and the presence of eligibility requirements. Institutional particularities were also observed depending on the context. Finally, criteria are proposed to facilitate the conceptualization and delimitation of academic minors.]]></p></abstract>

Este artigo analisa os elementos comuns, as diferenças e os padrões dos programas acadêmicos menores em uma amostra de universidades nacionais e internacionais. Para isso, foi utilizada a técnica de benchmarking genérico com uma amostra das 20 melhores universidades do mundo e das 10 melhores do Chile, de acordo com o Shanghai Ranking. A análise se concentrou nas definições, composição, tipos, requisitos de inscrição e certificação dos cursos de graduação oferecidos.
