La rehabilitación cardiaca es reconocida por las guías de práctica clínica, tanto internacionales como colombianas, como un componente esencial en el manejo de la insuficiencia cardiaca ya que permite mejorar la capacidad funcional y la calidad de vida de los pacientes con falla cardiaca. Sin embargo, la adherencia al ejercicio en esta población es baja.  Objetivo.  Evaluar los factores sociodemográficos y clínicos relacionados con a la adherencia auto informada al ejercicio durante la fase III del Programa de rehabilitación cardiaca.  Métodos.  Estudio de cohorte longitudinal anidado al proyecto &#8220;Efectividad de un programa de rehabilitación cardiaca fase III en pacientes con falla cardiaca&#8221;. La población de estudio consistió de los pacientes con insuficiencia cardíaca inscritos la fase III del programa de rehabilitación cardíaca de una clínica en Medellín, Colombia. Se realizó un seguimiento de 12 meses, durante los cuales se midió la adherencia al ejercicio auto informada, definida como la realización de más de 150 minutos semanales de actividad física no supervisada. Se analizaron factores sociodemográficos y clínicos, para lo cual se emplearon los siguientes instrumentos: el Duke Activity Status Index (DASI), el Minnesota Living with Heart Failure Questionnaire (MLHFQ), el Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9) para depresión y State Anxiety Scale (STALR) y Trait Anxiety Scale (STALR) para ansiedad.  Resultados.  Se incluyeron 117 pacientes que cumplían con los criterios de inclusión, de los cuales 59,8% mostraron adherencia al ejercicio (&gt;150 minutos por semana), siendo mayor en el grupo de intervención, pero sin una diferencia significativa en comparación con el grupo de control. El sexo masculino y el puntaje total en el cuestionario MLHFQ se asociaron significativamente con la adherencia al ejercicio. Los hombres mostraron una probabilidad significativamente mayor de adherirse al ejercicio en comparación con las mujeres (OR=2,38, IC95%: 1,03-5,50; p=0,04), al igual que tener una mejor calidad de vida (OR=0,92, IC95%: 0,87-0,97; p=0,00).  Conclusión.  Los resultados del presente estudio muestran que los pacientes que tienen mayor probabilidad de adherirse a un programa de rehabilitación cardiaca fase III o ejercicio no supervisado son los hombres y los que presentan una mejor calidad de vida. El resto de las variables sociodemográficas y clínicas no mostraron asociación estadísticamente significativa.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract  Introduction.  Cardiac rehabilitation is recognized by the clinical practice guidelines, both international and Colombian, as an essential component in the management of heart failure since it improves the functional capacity and quality of life of patients with this condition. However, exercise adherence in this population is low.  Objective.  To assess sociodemographic and clinical factors related to self-reported exercise adherence during phase III of the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program.  Methods.  Longitudinal cohort study nested in the project "Effectiveness of a phase III cardiac rehabilitation program in patients with heart failure". The study population consisted of patients with heart failure enrolled in the phase III of a cardiac rehabilitation program at a clinic in Medellín, Colombia. A 12-month follow-up was conducted, during which self-reported exercise adherence, defined as the performance of more than 150 minutes per week of unsupervised physical activity, was measured. Sociodemographic and clinical factors were analyzed, for which the following instruments were used: the Duke Activity Status Index (DASI), the Minnesota Living with Heart Failure Questionnaire (MLHFQ), the Patient Health Questionnaire&#94; (PHQ-9) for depression, and the State Anxiety Scale (STALE) and Trait Anxiety Scale (STALR) for anxiety.  Results.  A total of 117 patients who met the inclusion criteria were included, of whom 59.8% showed adherence to exen cise (&gt; 150 minutes per week), being higher in the intervention group, but without a significant difference compared to the control group. The male gender and the total score on the MLHFQ questionnaire were significantly associated with exercise adherence.
