Se trabajó bajo un enfoque mixto, con un diseño metodológico de tipo &#8220;no experimental&#8221;, transversal y de alcance descriptivo, utilizando una muestra aleatoria estratificada de 400 estudiantes, de ambos sexos, donde la edad promedio de los evaluados fue de 23 años. Para la recolección de información, se aplicó el cuestionario denominado &#8220;Factores Motivacionales que inciden en la elección de la carrera policial&#8221;, el cual consta de cinco ejes, cada uno con cinco ítems. La consistencia interna de la escala se establece mediante Alpha de Cronbach con un valor de 0.749, lo que valida la fiabilidad del cuestionario. Los datos son analizados a partir de medidas de tendencia central. Asimismo, se realizó una entrevista semiestructurada denominada &#8220;Percepción de la Policía Nacional de Colombia como empleador&#8221;, y se aplicó a 20 estudiantes, con el fin de triangular los datos cuantitativos con la información cualitativa, permitiendo establecer que el motivo principal de los jóvenes que deciden incorporarse como patrullero es el relacionado con Beneficios a la sociedad (M = 99.06 %) (3 = 396); los ítems más representativos son: &#8220;Sé que desde mi profesión puedo aportar a otros&#8221; y &#8220;Siento que pertenezco a esta institución y me enorgullece&#8221;; con esto se demuestra que los factores sociales son los más influyentes en la decisión de ingreso de los estudiantes de policía en Colombia.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT This research was carried out in thirteen police schools, with the purpose of analyzing the motivational factors that influence on the choice of the career as patrolman of the National Police. We worked under a mixed approach, with a methodological design of &#8220;non-experimental&#8221; type, transversal and descriptive scope, using a stratified random sample of 400 students of both sexes, where the average age of those evaluated was 23 years old. To collect the information, it was applied a questionnaire called &#8220;Motivational Factors that influence the selection of a police career&#8221; , which consists of five axes, each with five items. The internal consistency of the scale is established by Cronbach&#8217;s Alpha with a value of 0.749, which validates the reliability of the questionnaire. The data are analyzed using measures of central tendency. Likewise, a semi-structured interview called &#8220;Perception of the National Police of Colombia as an employer&#8221; was applied to 20 students, in order to triangulate the quantitative data with the qualitative information, allowing to establish that the main motivational factor of the young people who decide to join as a Patrolman is: Benefits to society (M = 99. 06%) (n = 396), where the most representative items are &#8220;I know that with my profession I can contribute to others&#8221; and &#8220;I feel, I belong to this institution and I am proud of it&#8221;, demonstrating that social factors are the most influential in the decision of the students to join to the police force in Colombia.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="pt"><p><![CDATA[RESUMO Esta investigação foi realizada em treze escolas de polícia, com o objetivo de analisar os factores motivacionais que influenciam a escolha da carreira como patrulheiro da Polícia Nacional. Trabalhámos com abordagem mista, com um desenho metodológico &#8220;não experimental&#8221;, transversal e descritivo, utilizando uma amostra aleatória estratificada de 400 estudantes de ambos os sexos, sendo a média de idade dos avaliados, 23 anos. Para a recompilaçåo de informaçåo, foi aplicado o questionário denominado &#8220;Fatores motivacionais que influenciam a escolha da carreira policial&#8221;, que consiste em cinco eixos, cada um com cinco itens. A consistência interna da escala é estabelecida medinte Cronbach Alpha com um valor de 0,749, o que valida a fiabilidade do questionário. Os dados são analisados utilizando medidas de tendência central. Do mesmo modo, foi realizada uma entrevista semi-estruturada chamada &#8220;Percepção da Polícia Nacional da Colômbia como empregador&#8221; aplicada a 20 estudantes, a fim de triangular os dados quantitativos com a informação qualitativa, permitindo estabelecer que o principal fator motivacional dos jovens quem decide aderir como Patrulheiro é: Benefícios para a sociedade (M = 99,06%) (n = 396) onde os itens mais representativos são &#8220;Sei que com minha profissão posso contribuir para os outros&#8221; e &#8220;Sinto que pertenço a esta instituição e faz-me sentir orgulhoso &#8220;, demonstrando que os fatores sociais são os mais influentes na decisão de admissåo para a força policial na Colômbia.]]></p></abstract>
