The used source of mechanical energy was the rotational movement of the turnstile arm, generated by pedestrians who enter and leave the campus at Escuela Colombiana de Ingeniería Julio Garavito. To achieve it, the following tasks were performed: the literature review, parameterization of pedestrians&#8217; entrance and exit, characterization of the turnstile, simulation, construction, and the assessment of the mechanisms. The obtained energy conversion results varied from 7v to 11v (1W) for the mechanism using neodymium magnets, and from 12v to 17v (12W) for the mechanical gears. The developed system aims to promote environmental commitment and exploit the lost energy resulting from people&#8217;s daily activities.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen El objetivo de la investigación fue diseñar, simular en SolidWorks, construir y probar en laboratorio, dos mecanismos de conversión de energía mediante engranes mecánicos y a través de imanes de neodimio. La fuente de energía mecánica disponible era el movimiento de rotación del brazo del torniquete, generada por la entrada y salida peatonal de los usuarios de la Escuela Colombiana de Ingeniería Julio Garavito. El diseño metodológico partió de la revisión del estado del arte, parametrización de los ingresos, y salidas de usuarios por la entrada peatonal, caracterización del torniquete, simulación, construcción y prueba de los mecanismos. Los resultados de conversión de energía obtenidos, fueron de 7v a 11v (1W) para el mecanismo mediante imanes de neodimio, y de 12v a 17v (12W) para el de engranes mecánico. El sistema desarrollado busca promover el compromiso ambiental y aprovechar la energía perdida en las actividades diarias del ser humano.]]></p></abstract>
