Sin embargo, su alto costo obliga a evaluar su eficacia y costoefectividad.  Objetivo: Revisar la eficacia (definida como el impacto en mortalidad y morbilidad por falla cardíaca) y la costo-efectividad del tafamidis para el manejo de la CM-ATTR.  Métodos: Revisión sistemática de la literatura incluyendo estudios que evaluaron el uso de tafamidis en CM-ATTR. La calidad de los estudios incluidos fue evaluada de manera independiente por tres autores.  Resultados: En total se incluyeron 16 estudios. El uso de tafamidis se asoció a una reducción significativa en la mortalidad y a una reducción estadísticamente significativa en la hospitalización por falla cardíaca. El seguimiento imagenológico revela que el tafamidis retrasa, mas no detiene ni regresa, el daño inducido por la CM-ATTR. Aunque el impacto clínico del tafamidis sobre la mortalidad es elevado, su alto costo hace que tanto el tamizaje como el tratamiento no sean costo-efectivos.  Conclusión: El uso de tafamidis tiene un impacto significativo en la mortalidad asociada a CM-ATTR; no obstante, su alto costo impide que tanto el tamizaje como el tratamiento sean costo-efectivos.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract  Introduction: Tafamidis has been approved for the treatment of cardiomyopathy associated with transthyretin amyloidosis (CM-ATTR). However, its high-cost warrants in-depth evaluation of its efficacy and cost-effectiveness.  Objective: To review the efficacy (defined as the impact on mortality and morbidity due to heart failure) and cost-effectiveness of tafamidis for the management of CM-ATTR.  Methods: Systematic review of the literature including studies that evaluated the use of tafamidis in CM-ATTR. The quality of the included studies was assessed independently by three authors.  Results: A total of 16 studies were included. The use of tafamidis was associated with a significant reduction in mortality, and a statistically significant reduction in heart failure-related hospitalization. Follow-up imaging reveals that tafamidis delays, but does not stop or regress, the damage induced by CM-ATTR. Although the clinical impact of tafamidis on mortality is high, its elevated cost resulted in a lack of cost-effectiveness for both screening and treatment.  Conclusion: The use of tafamidis has a significant impact on mortality associated with CM-ATTR; However, its high cost prevents both screening and treatment from being cost-effective.]]></p></abstract>
