En este estudio se realizó una evaluación ergonómica en la industria mueblera de la región centro-sur del estado mexicano de Chihuahua, con la finalidad de identificar las posturas de mayor riesgo y aplicar el método de evaluación rápida de miembros superiores (RULA, por sus siglas en inglés) para determinar el nivel de riesgo en el desarrollo de TME y generar una base sobre la cual se propongan los cambios pertinentes en el método y diseño de trabajo para mejorar la calidad de vida laboral. Los resultados arrojaron que de la muestra de 31 trabajadores evaluados, el 29 % identificó la presencia de dolor en la espalda, el 24 % en el cuello y el 13 % en las muñecas, principalmente. Además, los resultados del método RULA mostraron que en el 89 % de las fábricas de muebles, los trabajadores del área de ensamble se encuentran en un nivel de riesgo alto de desarrollar TME, por lo que se considera la urgencia de cambios en las tareas desarrolladas por los trabajadores.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract The application of ergonomic evaluation methods is useful when you want to identify activities that can potentially be a risk factor in the development of musculoskeletal disorders for workers. In the present study, an ergonomic evaluation was carried out in the furniture industry of the south-central region of the Mexican state of Chihuahua, with the purpose of identifying the highest risk postures, and applying the rapid upper limb assessment (RULA) method to determine the level of risk in the development of Musculoskeletal Disorders; and, thus, generating a basis on which pertinent changes in the work method and design are proposed to improve the quality of work life. The results showed that, of the sample of 31 evaluated workers, 29% mainly identified the presence of pain in the back, 24% in the neck and 13% in the wrists. Furthermore, the results of the RULA method showed that in 89% of furniture factories, workers in the assembly area are at a high-risk level of developing musculoskeletal disorders, which is why the promotion of changes in the methods of the tasks carried out by the workers is considered urgent.]]></p></abstract>
