In South America, it is present in Brazil, Argentina and now in Colombia.</i></font></p>     <p><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><b>Key words:</b> Citrus, asian citrus psyllid, biological control, fruits.</font></p> <hr>     <p>&nbsp;</p>     <p><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><i>Tamarixia radiata</i> (Waterston) (Hymenoptera: Eulophidae) es un ectoparasitoide idiobionte de <i>Diaphorina citri</i> Kuwayama (Hemiptera: Psyllidae). El g&eacute;nero <i>Tamarixia</i> Mercet incluye especies parasitoides de Psyllidae, Aphalaridae y Triozidae (Graham, 1991), con 52 especies descritas, 36 se reportan en la regi&oacute;n Pale&aacute;rtica, 4 en la Ne&aacute;rtica y 7 en la Neotropical. En la regi&oacute;n Afrotropical se registran 3, 5 en la Macaronesia y 5 en la Australasiana (Noyes, 2011; Zuparko <i>et al</i>., 2011; Narendran, <i>et al</i>., 2005). <i>T. radiata</i> fue descrita a partir de material colectado en la India e introducida en diversas regiones del mundo, para el control de <i>D. citri</i> el vector de la bacteria que causa el huanglongbing (HLB) en c&iacute;tricos (Waterston, 1922; &Eacute;tienne <i>et al</i>., 2001). De la misma forma, se conoce su presencia en algunos pa&iacute;ses asi&aacute;ticos, sur del continente Africano y Am&eacute;rica (Halbert y Manjunath, 2004; Hall, 2008; Qureshi, <i>et al</i>., 2009). En Am&eacute;rica del Sur, est&aacute; presente en Brasil, Argentina y ahora en Colombia. </font></p>     <p><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">En algunos de los pa&iacute;ses donde fue introducida para el control biol&oacute;gico de <i>D. citri</i>, el resultado ha sido satisfactorio; pero en otros no, posiblemente por la ocurrencia de parasitoides secundarios o al uso de insecticidas para control de otras plagas de los c&iacute;tricos. Adem&aacute;s del uso de parasitoides, un programa eficaz de manejo integrado, en pa&iacute;ses con presencia de <i>D. citri</i> y potencialmente HLB, contempla tambi&eacute;n la eliminaci&oacute;n de plantas infectadas, el empleo de pl&aacute;ntulas libres de <i>D. citri</i> y de la bacteria causante de la enfermedad. Estas medidas han garantizado buenos resultados para el control de HLB en los pa&iacute;ses donde <i>T. radiata </i>fue liberada.</font></p>     ]]></body>
<body><![CDATA[<p><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><i>D. citri</i> Kuwayama fue observado por el Instituto Colombiano Agropecuario ICA en el 2007, afectando cerca del 11% del &aacute;rea plantada en c&iacute;tricos de los departamentos de Valle del Cauca y Tolima. Actualmente se encuentran infestadas potencialmente el 95% de las 60 mil hect&aacute;reas establecidas en c&iacute;tricos en Colombia (PNH, 2006; ENA, 2009), seg&uacute;n Halbert y Nu&ntilde;ez (2004), <i>D. citri</i> cuenta con 59 especies de plantas hospederas de la familia Rutaceae, en especial de los g&eacute;neros <i>Citrus</i> y <i>Murraya</i>. <i>D. citri</i>, reviste su importancia por ser vector de la enfermedad conocida como HLB (Da Gra&ccedil;a, 1991; Aubert, 1987; Liu y Tsai, 2000; Tsai <i>et al</i>., 2000; Tsai <i>et al</i>., 2002), cuyo agente etiol&oacute;gico corresponde a la bacteria <i>Candidatus </i>Liberibacter americanus y <i>Ca</i> L. asiaticus (Halbert y Nu&ntilde;ez, 2004).</font></p>     <p><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">El siguiente trabajo se propuso realizar un primer informe de <i>T. radiata</i> (Waterston) para Colombia como parasitoide de <i>D. citri</i> Kuwayama.</font></p>     <p>&nbsp;</p>     <p><font size="3" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><b>MATERIALES Y M&Eacute;TODOS</b></font></p>     <p><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">En la diagnosis se sigui&oacute; la terminolog&iacute;a propuesta por Gauld y Hanson (2006), Waterston (1922), Graham (1987, 1991), LaSalle (1994), Narendran <i>et al</i>. (2007). Betancourt; 2 H, 2 M, LNDF-ICA&#93;. </font></p>     <p><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><i><b>Distribuci&oacute;n mundial.</b></i> China, Guadalupe, Indonesia, Mauritius, Pakist&aacute;n, Filipinas, Nepal, Taiw&aacute;n, Vietnam, Puerto Rico y los Estados Unidos de Norte Am&eacute;rica, M&eacute;xico (Waterston, 1922; Chien <i>et al</i>., 1991a; &Eacute;tienne <i>et al</i>., 2001; Halbert y Manjunath, 2004). En sur Am&eacute;rica, Brasil, Argentina, (Lizondo <i>et al</i>., 2007; G&oacute;mez y Parra, 2009; G&oacute;mez <i>et al</i>., 2006) y aqu&iacute; se documenta por primera vez para Colombia.</font></p>     ]]></body>
<body><![CDATA[<p><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><i><b>Hospederos.</b></i> Seg&uacute;n Aubert y Quilici (1984), el &uacute;nico hospedero conocido corresponde a <i>D. citri </i>Kuwayama (Hemiptera: Psyllidae); sin embargo, Peter <i>et al</i>. (1990), determinaron que <i>T. radiata </i>tambi&eacute;n es parasitoide de <i>Pallipsylla hyalina</i> (Mathur) (Hemiptera: Psyllidae).</font></p>     <p><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><i><b>Diagnosis.</b></i> Son peque&ntilde;as avispas oscuras no met&aacute;licas, con ojos en disposici&oacute;n dic&oacute;ptica. Cabeza m&aacute;s ancha que larga. Alas hialinas, cortas, con venaci&oacute;n rudimentaria amarilla. Alas anteriores con una dislocaci&oacute;n de la vena submarginal a la altura del paraestigma. Existe dimorfismo sexual en el n&uacute;mero de segmentos en el fun&iacute;culo, los machos son ligeramente m&aacute;s peque&ntilde;os que las hembras en su longitud total, pero sus antenas son 1,5 veces m&aacute;s largas que las de las hembras (Onagbola <i>et al</i>., 2009) y poseen setas m&aacute;s largas en el fun&iacute;culo. Adem&aacute;s, las hembras poseen la clava m&aacute;s ancha que los segmentos del fun&iacute;culo, mientras que en los machos la anchura de la clava es aproximadamente la misma (Waterston, 1922).</font></p>     <p><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Como un miembro de la subfamilia Tetrastichinae, <i>T. radiata</i> presenta los palpos maxilar y labial reducidos a un solo segmento; el borde ventral del escapo antenal de los machos con una placa sensorial; mesoescudo con notauli rectos y completos, las axilas muy adelantadas; escutelo con dos pares de l&iacute;neas longitudinales y dos pares de setas; alas anteriores con una dislocaci&oacute;n de la vena submarginal a la altura del parastigma y vena postmarginal ausente (Graham, 1987; Boucek, 1988; LaSalle, 1994).</font></p>     <p><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Entre los Tetrastichinae, el g&eacute;nero <i>Tamarixia</i> es reconocido por tener solo una seta en la superficie dorsal de la vena submarginal; propodeo sin carena paraespiracular en forma de Y; l&oacute;bulo mediano del mesoescudo con dos pares de largas setas adnotaulares, que son semierectas y similares en tama&ntilde;o, una situada en la mitad anterior y otra en la parte posterior; margen anterior del cl&iacute;peo truncada, ligeramente convexa o con dos l&oacute;bulos diminutos; macho con estructura genital bastante peculiar, de cuatro a ocho veces m&aacute;s largas que anchas y digitus de cuatro a seis veces m&aacute;s largo que ancho, con un distintivo gancho apical (LaSalle, 1994) (<a href="#fig01">Figura 1</a>).</font></p>     <p align="center"><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><a name="fig01"></a><b><img src="/img/revistas/rfnam/v64n2/a11fig01.jpg">    <br>   Figura 1.</b> A. Ebratt).</font></p>     <p><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><i>T. radiata</i> puede ser separada de las otras especies del g&eacute;nero por tener el mesosoma y coxas de color negruzco, las patas casi completamente p&aacute;lidas, el f&eacute;mur posterior con un oscurecimiento dorsal, el gaster con una conspicua mancha p&aacute;lida dorsal en la base (<a href="#fig02">Figura 2</a>) y la placa sensorial situada a la altura de un tercio de la longitud del escapo del macho (Waterston, 1922). Khan y Shafee (1981) complementan que tambi&eacute;n el lado ventral del gaster es p&aacute;lido. La caracterizaci&oacute;n y descripci&oacute;n morfol&oacute;gica de <i>T. radiata,</i> son tratadas extensamente por Waterston (1922) y por Khan y Shafee (1981), como Tetrastichus indicus Khan y Shafee (<a href="#fig02">Figura 2</a>).</font></p>     <p align="center"><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><b><a name="fig02"></a><img src="/img/revistas/rfnam/v64n2/a11fig02.jpg">    <br>   Figura 2.</b> A. Palacio).</font></p>     <p><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><i>T. radiata</i> tiene una longitud de 1,43 mm (n=4; Ds= 0,3513) y 1,20 mm (n=4; Ds= 0,2008) en hembras y machos respectivamente. Las hembras de <i>T. radiata</i> ponen sus huevos en la parte ventral de las ninfas III a V de <i>D. citri</i>, con preferencia a las del quinto estadio, provocando la muerte de la ninfa en el momento de la ovoposici&oacute;n. En la ninfa de <i>D. citri</i> se deposita s&oacute;lo un huevo; hay indicios de que la hembra es capaz de distinguir las ninfas ya parasitadas, evitando as&iacute; la p&eacute;rdida de los huevos (Quilici <i>et al</i>., 1992). </font></p>     ]]></body>
<body><![CDATA[<p><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">La zona de vida (Holdridge, 1967, 1982) en donde ha sido localizada <i>T. radiata</i> en Colombia, corresponde a bosque seco tropical (bs-T), caracterizado por temperaturas de 28 &ordm;C y 1050 mm de precipitaci&oacute;n promedio anual (Rubio, <i>et al</i>., 2011; IAVH, 1998), esto concuerda con las condiciones t&eacute;rmicas-higrom&eacute;tricas &oacute;ptimas para el establecimiento y recuperaci&oacute;n de <i>T. radiata</i> mencionadas por G&oacute;mez <i>et al.</i> (2006), en el estado de Sao Paulo (Brasil), ya que proporciona una mayor viabilidad del periodo huevo-adulto, mayores reportes de la taxa de reproducci&oacute;n, de la relaci&oacute;n finita de aumento, mayores porcentajes de emergencia de adultos del parasitoide y relaci&oacute;n de sexos &oacute;ptimos. Estos se asemejan a los resultados obtenidos por Chien <i>et al</i>. (1991a). La presencia de <i>T. radiata </i>en estas zonas de vida, permitir&aacute; la recuperaci&oacute;n y obtenci&oacute;n de material insectil para dar inicio a programas de producci&oacute;n masiva del parasitoide y su implementaci&oacute;n como agente de control biol&oacute;gico contra el psilido asi&aacute;tico <i>D. citri</i> en regiones productoras de c&iacute;tricos de Colombia. </font></p>     <p><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Al respecto, G&oacute;mez <i>et al</i>. (2006), determinaron la existencia de policromismo en <i>T. radiata</i> y concluyeron mediante t&eacute;cnicas moleculares que todas correspondieron a la misma especie. Aubert y Quilici (1984), documentaron niveles de parasitoidismo del 80% en <i>D. citri </i>mediante introducciones inoculativas en cultivos de c&iacute;tricos en la India, la pen&iacute;nsula de Arabia, Philipinas, Tailandia e Indonesia. Seg&uacute;n Chien <i>et al</i>.
