Forma y Función waslaunched in June 1981. It is a journal released on a six-monthly basis that aims to disseminate research and reflections on a wide spectrum of issues concerning linguistics and language-relateddisciplines.

The journal is addressed to the academic community in Latin America, the Caribbean, Brazil, Spain and Portugal in order to consolidate an academic exchange among readers and authors. Forma y Función publishes research results in the fields of theoretical linguistics, applied linguistics, ethnolinguistics, sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics, biolinguistics, semiotics, discourse analysis, translation theory and classical philology, etc.

The journal's tittle is abbreviated Forma funcion, Santaf, de Bogot, D.C. It should be used in bibliographical references, footnotes, and captions.
