INSTRUCTIONS TO AUTHORS

 

Scope and policy

Mission

Theologica Xaveriana divulges the academic and investigative work that is developed in the Faculty of Theology, Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, and in other theological studies' centers, with the intention of promoting the exploration of the liberation and fulfillment horizons for the human being, and to favor an open interdisciplinary, interreligious, and intercultural dialogue, thus providing a service to the Church, to society in general, and to the theological community.

Subject matters discussed

Systematic theology, Fundamental theology, Biblical theology, Pastoral theology.

Types of papers

Researching Papers. They describe in great detail finished researching projects. The most common structure used is made up by four sections: introduction, methodology, results, and conclusions.

Reflection Papers. They present the results of a finished investigation, from an analytical, interpretative, and critical perspective, regarding a specific subject. In them, the author resorts to original sources.

Review Papers. They analyze, systematize, and integrate the results of published or unpublished researches about a field of knowledge, in order to present the advances and prevailing tendencies. They present a detailed bibliographic review of at least fifty references.

Briefing Papers. They present the preliminary or partial results of a researching project.

Topic reviews. They divulge a critical revision of the literature concerning a particular subject.

Recensions. They descriptively and critically present recent publications for the interest of the journal's target audience.

Approval of the articles

All submitted texts are subjected to evaluation by anonymous academic peers; one internal, the other is external. They evaluate the text, both in form and in content (see form) and expresses a concept that will be communicated to the authors, who must take into account their recommendations and make the necessary adjustments to the text in a time period of eight days. In this process, the confidentiality and anonymity of the evaluators will be protected. The corrected articles must be sent back to the evaluators for feedback.

Target Audience

The journal is intended for theologians, researchers, teachers, and to all people who contribute to the development of theological knowledge and its diversity of expressions.

 

Form and preparation of manuscripts

Journal Preparation

In the editorial production process for the journal, the texts are submitted to style review, layout, and correction. The style suggestions have to be approved by the author. From that moment, the author cannot introduce further modifications to the text.

In general terms, we follow the standards of style presented in The Chicago Manual of Style, 15th ed. (2003). For additional information about this manual of style, visit the following web page: http://www.chicagomanualofstyle.org.

Sending of manuscripts

Articles Submission

The articles are constantly received; the journal has got cutoff dates: the first week of February and the last week of July, every year.

All the manuscripts must be delivered or sent to the Office of Publications, Faculty of Theology (Pedro Arrupe Building, Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, 4th floor. Telefax: 3208320, ext. 5609), or to the following e-mail address: revista.theologica@javeriana.edu.co

The reception of an article does not imply its mandatory publication.

The author must send an updated CV, mentioning his/her latest publications and contact data, including its address for receiving mail.
