The models applied in different educational institutions of basic education in our country do not have the best results as far as quality is concerned, this has meant that the national government considers as one of the main topics of discussion, even more so when economic growth in emerging countries demand better training and people with specific skills, for this reason it has begun implementing strategies necessary to contribute to this end, the Ten-Year Education Plan 2006-2016 presented as a fundamental pedagogical renewal enhance learning. Moreover, this paper aims to identify the different social and cultural factors that Colombia presents today that would allow the development of new educational models based on the postulations made by several authors who have made valuable contributions to education, such as, Maria Montessori, Ovide Décroly, John Henry Pestalozzi and Celestin Freinet among others. For the realization of this paper established a qualitative methodology corresponding to the systematization of the documentary sources, such as research studies and reports.
