The article presents and analyzes various historiographical, sociological, political and other academic studies on political parties in Colombia during the nineteenth century, specifically, on the foundational process and the assimilation of ideas by these political collectivities in the country, two topics that have not been sufficiently addressed academically. This assessment was developed from a socio‑historical perspective and within the framework of a source criticism methodology. It is concluded that it is necessary to deepen the studies on political parties, despite an apparently wide range of studies on the subject, since there are still gaps and common places in the interpretation of many socio‑political processes that were decisive in the configuration of parties in Colombia.
