Resumen

BARBOSA, Leticia dos Santos; SOLINO, Ana Paula  y  GEHLEN, Simoni Tormohlen. Children’s Worldviews in the Development of School Science Education Programs Based on Paulo Freire. Rev. Fac. Cienc. Tecnol. [online]. 2022, n.52, pp.27-46.  Epub 27-Ene-2023. ISSN 0121-3814.  https://doi.org/10.17227/ted.num52-14954.

Based on Paulo Freire’s assumptions, the objective of this research is to investigate how it is possible to listen to children and what is the role of their worldviews in the development of school programs via Generating Themes. For this purpose, a training process was carried out for teachers from a kindergarten school located in the city of Ilhéus, in the interior of the state of Bahia, Brazil, during activities related to the process of obtaining and systematizing Generating Themes, consisting of two stages: i) obtaining drawings made by children based on local problems; ii) elaboration of the Complementary Thematic Network and school programming, considering the children’s drawings and descriptions. This information was analysed using Discursive Textual Analysis, guided by the following categories: i) the children’s worldview expressed in the drawings and ii) the inclusion of the children’s worldview in-school programming. Among the results, the importance of ensuring spaces for the participation of students, especially young children, in the organization of school programming stands out, since their views of the world can expand, complement and/or legitimize the limiting situations of the community in search of a more humane and democratic early childhood education.

Palabras clave : Paulo Freire; science teaching; generating theme; early childhood education.
