This article shows a bibliometric review of the main publications that are focused in the construct learning approaches in the most important scientific magazines written in Spanish at the Iberian Peninsula and Latin America; It is about a retrospective analysis that covers the period between 1993 and 2013. In this lapse of time it shows the total amount of articles that have faced with the topic, the magazines that have been published and it emphasizes the authors with a major number of publications. At the same time it establishes categories related to specific topics of investigation, besides it establishes some relations between the learning approaches and the academic performance of university students. The analysis of the results leads to, among others, to these conclusions: during the study period there is a slightly grown in the number of articles published reaching a maximum between 2009 and 2011. Besides the author outlined with the maximum of academic productivity in the topic are the doctors Fuensanta Hernández and Alfonso Barca; and the objective topics characterizes the learning approaches and its differentiation with the similar constructs. The statistics studies show that the deep approach correlates positively with the academic performance of university students.
