PARDO CARRILLO, Otto Smith; NAVARRO JAIMES, Deicy Milena y MORENO SIERRA, Vivian Carolina. The competitiveness of manufacturing firms in Colombia (2008-2018): An estimation of its most influential factors. Rev.fac.cienc.econ. [online]. 2022, vol.30, n.2, pp.9-19. Epub 30-Dic-2022. ISSN 0121-6805. https://doi.org/10.18359/rfce.6181.
Competitiveness as a business characteristic has been a phenomenon widely studied in economics and other disciplines, due to the importance of lower production costs for entrepreneurs. However, in the Colombian case, despite having trade agreements, the possibilities of generating higher levels of competitiveness within the companies and thus obtaining better positions within the local, regional and international markets have not been achieved due to the low standards in infrastructure (access roads, ports, navigability of rivers, payment of tolls and lack of connectivity of the regions), among other aspects associated with governmental decisions. Hence, the purpose of this text is to determine the organizational factors that influence the competitiveness of manufacturing firms in Colombia (2008-2018), through the estimation of panel data under fixed effects conditions. The results derived from the application of the model account for the positive impact of the participation of labor, intermediate consumption, and the volume of total sales on the gross production of these establishments.
