Resumen

CAMPO BECERRA, Óscar Daniel. ORANGES ON THE GROUND: THE CONSCIOUSNESS OF DEATH IN THE WORK OF TOMÁS GONZÁLEZ. Lit. teor. hist. crit. [online]. 2012, vol.14, n.1, pp.183-207. ISSN 0123-5931.

This paper proposes a critical reading of the work of Tomás González. The first part shows that the position of the narrator in the narrative work, and the poetic voice in his poetry, are mediated by a consciousness of death which influences the representation of the world. The paper goes on to analyze the family relationships between the characters of the novels, since these relationships enable the reader to perceive tragic fates, nervous sensibilities and inherited feelings of guilt which define the male characters. In addition to examining the works of González, the paper calls on interviews with the author, critical discussions of his texts and explicit or implicit affirmations derived from his poems and narrative works.

Palabras clave : death; narrator; realism; the sublime; the tragic; Tomás González.
