This article presents the main results of a descriptive study that to explores the assessment of inhabitants of Bogotá of some conditions that affect the habitability of the public space, based on the importance and satisfaction that citizens attribute to these conditions. A total of 212 people, responded an ad hoc questionnaire of 47 characteristics related to the habitability of public space, and its habitability in general. The results show that most of the conditions were valued negatively, in terms of satisfaction, although they were considered important. Among the conditions assessed as important with high level of satisfaction were those that facilítate cultural, recreational and sports activities, and the possibility of commute using bikes to work, study or for recreational purposes. Results are discussed based on the relationship between satisfaction and the importance that participants give to the different conditions that contribute to the achievement of a habitable public space in the city and its implications for urban management.
