This article describes a methodology that allows the estimation of the coefficient of friction between the tire of a vehicle and the road surface, based on emergency braking maneuvers applicable at the place of the events where a traffic accident has occurred. , through the use of measurement hardware such as the Vericom accelerometer and especially, the use of smartphone as one of the reliable methods for its accuracy in the acquisition of acceleration data (Remolina, 2019) y (Baena, 2019).

The methodology integrates protocols based on the standardization of procedures established by the SAE (SAE International, 2010) and the international standard ISO-21994 (ISO 21994, 2007), which has been one of the results in the research of the comparative analysis of methods for the estimation of the tire-track fiction coefficient applied in the reconstruction of traffic accidents (Baena, 2019), its application being important not only to obtain the coefficient of friction, but to provide security in the procedure and quality in the acquisition of information.
