This is a review of the genealogy of the state-oriented interpretation about the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta ancient indigenous communities, and its relationship to the emergency of some governmental colonial practices which resound current euro-centered interpretations of State. The study begins with the historical formation of being Tairona in the western regime of discourse. It concludes that the claims about the people from the Sierra are linked to the imperial government policies, and are supported by the interpretation of the New World under the Old World's perspective.
