Resumen
ESCOBAR, Duvan. The Sacred Cycle of the High Peaks: Water, Life, and Thought among the Misak (Guambianos). Antipod. Rev. Antropol. Arqueol. [online]. 2019, n.34, pp.145-151. ISSN 1900-5407. https://doi.org/10.7440/antipoda34.2019.07.
This photo essay opens a window on the life of the Misak Indians in the northern Colombian Andes. The Misak, who live in the high plateaus, struggle to keep their sacred territory and to reproduce their traditional knowledge. During fieldwork in 2016, I explored the Misak's traditional learning methods, I visited their mountains and lakes to attempt to understand their social dynamics and rituals they use to build, maintain, and transmit their traditional knowledge. With my camera, I have captured moments and landscapes which are an essential part of the Misak's Andean cosmology, made up by a belief system, which, as revealed by the images, is enshrined by visits to the lakes.
