The article proposes an analysis of the novel Donde nadie me espere (2018) by Piedad Bonnett based on the paradigm of hopelessness that Álvaro Mutis proposed as a fundamental feature of modern literature. The article is divided into three parts. In the first one, is established the reading agreement proposed by the novel. In the second part, the characteristics of hopelessness are presented according to the model proposed by Mutis. And in the third part, the study of the figure of Gabriel -the protagonist of the novel- is done according to its meeting points with the model of mutisian hopelessness.
