Paper poses diverse ethical aspects, relevant to medical practice in general, and to psychiatry in particular, with special emphasis in psychotherapy. Concern with ethical momentum of the medical act dates back to ancient greek culture, when hippocratic revolution transformed magical medical practice into science. A science inseparable from art, when alluding to the subjectivity, vital experience and environment of the human being. Through a journey across Hellenic word, most platonic thought, christian ideas and diverse aspects at the present time, «problems» related to psychiatric diagnosis, pharmacotherapy and psychotherapy are studied. Finally, a strategy is proposed, according to the selected theoretical framework, and the patient´s own pathology.
