The epiphenic diverticulum is a rare entity, and its etiology and therapy have been controversial. We present the case of a 39-year old man with incapacitanting symptomatology who underwent diverticulectomy and esophgomyotomy. We discuss the etiology, diagnosis and treatment of the epiphrenic diverticulum.
