Abstract

MAHECHA CLAVIJO, Germán Roberto. THE SABBATH: AN ECOLOGICAL STRATEGY FROM GOD. Theol. Xave. [online]. 2011, vol.61, n.172, pp.423-448. ISSN 0120-3649.

In the Jewish tradition, the Sabbath is considered as the sacred seventh day of the week, one which - according to the Torah - must be celebrated abstaining from any kind of labor. It is not a simple break from everyday work, but an opportunity to meet again with God the Creator and acknowledge his magnificence. In this article, an ecological interpretation of the Sabbath is presented, showing it as a strategy from God aimed to protect all his creation.

Keywords : God; Sabbath; Israel; resilience; eco-spirituality.
