Abstract

RODRIGUEZ WEBER, Javier E. Income inequality in Colombia (1938-1988): A new data set. Cuad. Econ. [online]. 2017, vol.36, n.spe72, pp.43-76. ISSN 0121-4772.  https://doi.org/10.15446/cuad.econ.v36n72.65879.

The paper presents a new set of statistics on income inequality in Colombia between 1938 and 1988. Until now, information has only been available for six years: 1938, 1951, 1964, 1971, 1978, and 1988 (Londoño, 1995). However, this paper expands upon these statistics by estimating annual data for income distribution by sectors -urban and rural- and categories of income earners. Estimation procedures are described in-depth in the text, and the main results are included in the statistical appendix.
