This paper instructs on the role the psychiatrist plays in the judicial system in the United States. Important recommendations appear on the behavior of a skillful psychiatrist in the courtroom, how to be more credible and efficient and avoid getting into trouble. Aspects of the presentation of the forensic psychiatrist as an expert witness are detailed. Advice and suggestions on the matter are provided.
