Introduction: This article suggests an understanding of the experience of being kidnapped from a psychopathological perspective. Objective: To describe and give a name to the experience of being kidnapped. Method: Qualitative analysis of several cases. Conclusion: Being kidnapped is a traumatic, limit situation, and a catastrophe. An experience that musters such vicissitudes is a monstrous experience.
