GIRALDO RAMIREZ, WILMER e ORDONEZ CARMONA, OSWALDO. GEOTECHNICAL PROBLEM OF THE KM 6 ON THE MEDELLÍN-BOGOTÁ HIGHWAY: BACKGROUND, CAUSES AND ALTERNATIVE SOLUTIONS. Bol. cienc. tierra [online]. 2013, n.34, pp.25-33. ISSN 0120-3630.
In the kilometer 6 of the Medellin-Bogota Highway is present a problem of descent of the bench, which is sharpened in the last 5 years and has required an investment of more than 30.000 million of Colombian pesos in retaining walls, tensors, slopes, relocation of the road and drainage, without reaching a final solution to the problem, just two months from delivery of the last works (May of 2012) was evident the persistence of the geotechnical problem and the deterioration in works. The problem is aggravated by landslides that have affected communities, caused material losses and legal conflicts between the consortium DEVIMED and the community in the zone. Based on photo interpretation and field work in geology and geomorphology, is possible to identify and delineate the scar of an ancient landslide. This landslide is reactivated by the heavy rains in the area, showing creeping and smaller landslides which affect the highway and surrounding buildings. In that sense, should be raised best geomorphological studies to perform constructions on slopes of the Aburrá valley and alternatives as viaducts and tunnels for a definitive solution to the geotechnical problem in the highway because the measures taken to date had been ineffective.
