Abstract

GOMEZ, Carlos A.; MUNOZ, Edison  and  RAMOS, Luis F.. Radiofrequency ablation of anomalous pathway in a patient with agenesis of the inferior vena cava. Rev. Colomb. Cardiol. [online]. 2015, vol.22, n.3, pp.149-152. ISSN 0120-5633.  https://doi.org/10.1016/j.rccar.2015.03.006.

We describe a case of a female patient aged 55 who was diagnosed of Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome. When taken to the ablation procedure, agenesis of the inferior vena cava with continuity into the right cardiac cavities through the azygos vein is found. The subsequent completion of the procedure through the said vein was considered successful; however, due to the recurrence of new episodes of tachycardia and of electrocardiographic alterations, a new electrophysiological study and successful ablation was performed via right internal jugular vein. We also present a review of the literature on this topic.
