Abstract

OSSA LONDONO, Jorge. LIFE ON EARTH. TO REDUCE EGOTISM AND INCREASE COOPERATION. Iatreia [online]. 2002, vol.15, n.4, pp.248-252. ISSN 0121-0793.

This short essay collects the thought of the author stimulated by some preliminary readings on the subject of environmental ethics. The concept of life on earth is proposed as the fundamental basis for and ethics of the environment. Egotism as an ontogenetic principle of the construction of the individuality of the living being; and cooperation, as a necessary organizing axis, are recognized in this context and it is proposed that a rule of thumb to manage the very complex relationship whit the environment could lay on the capacity of the human being to increase cooperation and reduce his egotism.

Keywords : ÉTICA AMBIENTAL; BIOSEMIÓTICA; EGOÍSMO; COOPERACIÓN; EDUCACIÓN.
