Abstract

HIGUERA SANDOVAL, Carlos Hernando; PATARROYO FONSECA, Anyi Milena  and  VARGAS LEON, Yeison Fabián. High Module Asphalt Mix Feasibility, with aggregates from the Influence Area of Tunja City. Rev. Fac. ing. [online]. 2013, vol.22, n.34, pp.9-20. ISSN 0121-1129.

Here are presented the feasibility results analysis, on high modulus asphalt mixtures (MAM) with stone aggregates, from two quarries in the Tunja city area of influence and a polymer modified asphalt type V. The design methodologies used to determine the working formula, were RAMCODES and MARSHALL. The respective mixtures'dynamic modulus was determined by the indirect tensile proving equipment, Nottingham Asphalt Tester -NAT-. The results showed that designed mixtures, possess high flow values, indicating that are easily deformed and exhibit stability values higher than the conventional paving asphalt mixtures. Related to the dynamic modulus, no mixture exceeds the 10000 MPa at 20 ºC, required by the INVIAS and IDU´s specifications. However, taking as reference the Tunja (13 °C) annual average temperature, one of the mixtures reaches 11000 MPa.
