Abstract

GOMEZ, Néstor Javier  and  VELAZQUEZ, Guillermo A.. Relationship between Public Green Spaces and Quality of Life in the Municipality of Santa Fe, Argentina. Cuad. Geogr. Rev. Colomb. Geogr. [online]. 2018, vol.27, n.1, pp.164-179. ISSN 0121-215X.  https://doi.org/10.15446/rcdg.v27n1.58740.

Public green spaces (PGS) provide social and environmental services to the urban community. The article identifies and analyzes the presence, surface, and distribution of the PGS of the municipality of Santa Fe (Argentina) in relation to four quality of life areas established in a previous study. This approach is based on a series of indicators that rely on data drawn from secondary and primary sources. The results show that the offer, size, presence, and density of PGS in Santa Fe differ according to the quality of life areas, and that there is a greater availability of such spaces in places with a better quality of life. Municipal regulations appear to have favored the proliferation of small PGS.

Keywords : quality of life; distribution; public green spaces; population; Santa Fe.
