Kuznets´s hypothesis has epitomised the paradigm for studying long-run distributive dynamics for many years. However, recent experience in many countries has suggested that the Kuznetsian view should be reassessed. This paper is aimed at presenting some theoretical elements which have been widely introduced into the literature concerning this topic, as well as others which have not been so widely studied but are equally relevant for improving such analysis. It can thus be understood that distributional performance as analysed by Kuznets is just one of several possible outcomes.
