Abstract

GARZA, Néstor  and  PUGLIESE, Gisell. ELECCIÓN TEÓRICA EN ECONOMÍA: EL CASO DE SOLOW, ROMER Y RAMSEY. Cuad. Econ. [online]. 2009, vol.28, n.50, pp.35-62. ISSN 0121-4772.

Theoretical choice is not an easy task for economists, as there is always a dilema between syntactic epistemic virtues (parsimony, generality, unifying power, etc.), and semantic epistemic virtues (relationship between evidence and theory). This document analyses the theoretical choice process in the case of growth theory (Solow, Romer and Ramsey). The methodology of one-to-one disparities is used to assess the form and content of these theories. In this way, the epistemic virtues which are taken into account by the economists in the process of theoretical choice are identified.

Keywords : epistemic virtues; deterministic empiricism; theoretical choice.
