Abstract

MARQUEZ, Luis; GARCIA, Dominga Esperanza  and  GUARIN, Lesly Carolina. Conical and the BPR Volume-Delay Functions for Multilane Roads in Bogota. rev.ing. [online]. 2014, n.41, pp.30-39. ISSN 0121-4993.  https://doi.org/10.16924/riua.v0i41.674.

The last stage of classical transport modelling, known as the sequential model of the four steps, estimates the flow pattern of the system. Then, in a post-processing phase all measures of system performance such as the level of service and externalities are estimated. This paper compares the estimated BPR and conical volume-delay with data taken in six multi-lane roads in Bogota, finding ranges of recommended function parameters values. We concluded that the values traditionally used forthese functions are not the best for explaining the congestion that occurs in the environment studied

Keywords : Travel demand models; traffic assignment; volume-delay functions.
