This article presents a general panorama of the research and reflection developed in Colombia during the years between 1980 and 2009 in regards to the media. It summarizes the principal thematic, theoretical, and methodological tendencies of this research, as well as some aspects of its spatial and temporal production. It leaves us with some critical questions in regards to the production of knowledge about the media.
