The article reflects on social research as a personal and professional practice, understood as a singularity of the scientific job, dimensioned and transfigured in a tension game between its multiple becoming and the contemporary capitalism. The ways in which the market logics affect such multiplicity are studied, establishing standardization technologies and procedures as values for the scientific "promotion".
